Haunting Dreams

This is a very personal song. About recurring bad dreams I used to have, ever since I can remember. After writing the song, the dreams have gone. All that remains is the music...

My dreams have often blessed me
But from time to time they haunt me
Staring empty faces, scary masks, a devilís eye
The room is filled with shadows a
nd all I can do is try
To realize these faces have been there many times before
Strangely always when the night is black as ice
I surrender to the ghosts that my dreams have sent me
Knowing Iíll be safe again when they leave before sunrise.

My dreams have often blessed me
But from time to time they haunt me
The house on fire, Iím out of luck
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to run, the doors all stuck
I try to scream but then I know Iíve done these things before
Strangely always in the same scary way
I surrender to the fire that my dreams have sent me
Knowing Iíll be rescued soon by the light of day

And then the sunrise warms the room and fills it up with light
And I embrace the day that gives me strength to face another night.

My dreams have often blessed me
But from time to time they haunt me
The cliffís too high, the hillís too steep
Miles of air between me and the ground
And Iím falling down, into the deep
I realize I took this fall a hundred times before
Strangely always in the middle of the night
I surrender to the fall that my dreams have sent me
Knowing I will wake up before I land and die

And then the sunrise warms the room and fills it up with light
And I embrace the day that gives me strength to face another night.
